Qatar QSuites: Why Everyone Is Talking About This Seat

QSuites aren't just a business class product. They're a rethink of what business class can be. When Qatar Airways introduced them in 2017, the aviation industry spent two years trying to catch up. Most still haven't.

The Seat

The defining feature is the door. QSuites have a full sliding door that closes to create a genuinely private space — something that, until recently, only first class cabins offered. Inside, the seat converts to a lie-flat bed that's both wide and long enough for most travellers to sleep comfortably in any direction.

The suite walls are high. When you're seated, you can't see your neighbours. The feeling is closer to a private compartment on a luxury train than a conventional business class cabin.

The Double Bed

If you're travelling with a partner, QSuites offers something unique: adjacent middle suites can have their divider lowered to create a shared space. Combined with the lie-flat beds, this creates a double bed configuration at cruising altitude. Book seats 11D and 11G for the best version of this.

The Food

Qatar's catering is exceptional. The Dine on Demand service means you eat when you want, not when the crew decides to serve. The menu spans multiple cuisines, changes seasonally, and is prepared from proper ingredients rather than rehydrated airline food. The Champagne selection — Billecart-Salmon is the standard pour — is outstanding.

Al Mourjan Lounge, Doha

Hamad International Airport's Al Mourjan lounge is regularly voted the world's best. It's vast, beautifully designed, has a full restaurant with à la carte service, showers, and quiet zones. The connection through Doha adds time to most itineraries, but the lounge makes the layover genuinely enjoyable rather than something to endure.

What to Watch For

Not all Qatar routes have QSuites. Older aircraft still fly the standard Business Class seat, which is a good but unremarkable angled lie-flat. Always check which aircraft operates your specific flight. The Qatar website shows this during booking — look for the B777 with QSuites designation.

The Verdict

If you want the best seat in the sky at business class prices, QSuites is the answer. The combination of a closing door, exceptional food, and the Al Mourjan lounge makes this the benchmark against which everything else is measured. Score: 9.5.
